Queen In Hyun’s Man - Episode 16
Well, I guess all that matters is that they’re together, right?
A lot of people are upset about the ending, so much so that I had to get off of Twitter just so I could watch the finale in peace. I understand why so many people didn’t like it, but all I wanted was for these two to ultimately be together and that’s what the writer gave us. Granted, in the most nonsensical of ways, but we got it nonetheless. Honestly, I think the writer wrote themselves into a corner. Obviously there had to be consequences for Boong Do’s history altering time-traveling, but no one really left any holes for these two to be together in the end (I’m assuming that their reunion was something they wanted to give us from the very beginning) which meant they had to use these unexplainable tactics.
I understand that a drama’s main purpose are to escape from reality so it’s important to be able to accept the ridiculous, but Queen In Hyun’s Man has been written so intelligently for so long that an acute imagination hasn’t really been necessary because the plot has found a way to keep itself as realistic as possible. It’s one of the reasons it was so good. Seeing it finally give in to the fantasy aspect in such a strong way was disappointing.
Oh, also, Ji Hyun Woo and Yoo In Na’s undeniable chemistry. I guess the only good thing we can out of this is the fact it seems Yoo In Na and Ji Hyun Woo seem to be involved in real life. Ji Hyun Woo confessed at the finale showing that he liked In Na and, while she didn’t deny anything, her answer simply stating that her response to him and their status will be discussed in private is just as disappointing as some parts of this finale.
Pffft. I’m just going to say their relationship is so on.
Agree. We wanted a happy ending and we did :)
Now for the real story…
Where’s my sanity? Give it back to me! I’m squealing since the start of the episode. This will be the death of me.
She was narrating something and at the same time, 300 years ago, Boong Do is tied and also in the palace. Tears fall on Hee Jin’s cheeks.
She is crying in the car. Wait. Did she already remember him? Did she?
My sanity left me. Kim Boong Do got back in 2012? GOD BLESS THE PHONE FOR BEING A TOOL.
Bless the phone.
One year later.
After finishing “New Jang Hee Bin,” Hee-Jin is now a star and is very busy.
Then one day, Hee-Jin receives an offer from a director (in the education department) to narrate a documentary.
The director hands Hee-Jin a script titled, “Queen In-Hyun’s Man”…

This is a letter that I am writing to you,
but at the same time it is also written to me.I may forget that I even wrote this letter,
or this letter may disappear completely, but I’m writing this letter to me, or you,
or whoever that might live on holding onto their memories…When I received this talisman by chance, I wanted to know it’s cause and effect.
At first, I thought the effect was accomplishing my hopeless dream,
then I believed that the effect was meeting you through fate,
and then I believed the effect was living a new life in a different world, but
I now belatedly realize the cause and effect is that
the cause of saving a life led to the effect of me having to lose everything. My future, my honor, my values, my people, and even you…
It may have been an obvious logic that
I’d have to compensate earning a life by losing everything else.
I was foolish for believing that I’d be able to keep at least one of those things. How much do I have to lose until I fully compensate
Being unable to meet you, I now realize even that is a luxury.Memories…
Our memories.(flashback scenes….)
Our memories…Memories.
That is the last price I must pay.
Even I don’t know what will happen now.Whether we will live forgetting each other
or be unable to let go of these memories and live eternally miserable…My last wish,
I want to remember you.
Because not having those memories on top of living my remaining years with no goal will feel like hell. And you…Even if you read this letter in the future,
I hope you won’t realize who this letter was addressed to.(translation by starcandii)
Heartbreak #1
group hug everyone ,with hee jin and boongdo in the center. T_T
I honestly was so friggin’ lost it’s not even funny. Also, these pictures may not be in order [I can’t remember the exact sequence]. Apparently she can remember bits of this alternate reality as well as what’s real. The alternate reality seems to start not long after we initially met her. She took DongMin back [from what I could tell] and that’s how she ends up where she is.
I’m late for work so I’ll try to talk more about all this later.
rough draft~! late for work. I’ll fix/caption these later
if you don’t want to spoil your episode 9 tonight.. vid fr @cjndrama
Hee Jin remembers. That anticipation turned frustration is enough to say that she was expecting the guy to be Boong Do.
